Leonard Williams: Andrew Luck would be on my sack list

New York Jets rookie defensive lineman Leonard Williams is not about to spend the remainder of the off-season compiling a Khalil Mack-like quarterback sack list – but if he did, Andrew Luck would be at the very top!

The first round draft choice out of USC will face some truly talented quarterbacks in his inaugural NFL campaign, including Tom Brady (twice), Ryan Tannehill (twice), Tony Romo, Eli Manning and Luck, who is one of the undisputed stars of the league with the Indianapolis Colts.

In an exclusive interview for BritViewNFL.com and NFLUK.com, Williams told me:

“That’s a lot of great quarterbacks and there are people on that list that I grew up watching so it’s going to be crazy to go against them.

“I would definitely say that Andrew Luck should be on my list because he played at Stanford and they were rivals of USC. I was never there to play against him in college so I’ll look forward to playing against him. I’d like to sack him for college pride. And also Tom Brady because of that rivalry we have between the Jets and Patriots.”

As Williams prepares for his rookie campaign, he is putting behind him an NFL Draft that surprisingly saw him fall to the Jets with the sixth overall selection.

Williams said:

“I agree with a lot of people who said I was one of the best players in the Draft and I feel like I’m a player who can come in and make an impact right away. I didn’t expect to drop as far as I did but I feel like it’s actually one of the better fits for me and I’m really glad to be here.”
