Tannehill: I use Marino as a resource

Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill set career highs with 4,045 passing yards and 27 touchdowns in his third NFL campaign and was rewarded with a $96 million contract extension this off-season.

BritViewNFL is not about to suggest Tannehill found some magic potion to raise his game to new heights in 2014, but it is a fact that he was able to lean on the legendary Dan Marino, who threw for 61,361 yards and 420 touchdowns in a Hall of Fame career with the Dolphins.

We’ll leave it up to you to decide if there is a link between the two.

In an exclusive interview with BritViewNFL and NFLUK.com, Tannehill told me: “We watch tape together – there are times when we’ll sit in the film room and watch a practice or a game together.

“To be able to pick his brain is really cool because I get to ask him what he sees and how he played back in the day. It’s a unique experience. He’s been around a lot more in the past year and it’s been great to have him around and to use him as a resource.”

With Marino in his corner and millions of dollars in the bank, Tannehill is obviously in a buoyant mood this off-season, but he also remains fiercely driven to succeed on the field.

Tannehill said: “We’re chasing a championship and we’re not going to stop until we get it. I think we’re close. We have the most talent on this roster since I’ve been here and I think we can win a lot of games.”
